Activity 1: Handout

Rocks are all around us, from the ground we walk and drive on to the foundations and walls of our homes, and are even used to furnish and decorate our homes. With your classmates, brainstorm specific uses of rocks you have seen in your personal life (excluding jewelry). Once a list has been created, use the internet to create a list of rocks commonly used in these purposes (minimum5). You may find the following websites (and others like them) to be helpful:
